One of Bulgaria’s most unusual natural landmarks: hundreds of stone columns, some up to 7 metres tall, standing in a desert-like landscape. Their origin is still debated — they may be 50 million years old. The site is a short detour off the main road between Madara and Varna, making it an easy stop on the way to or from the coast. Free to visit and great for photography.
Distance: 30 minutes by car (towards Varna)
